ATHENA™

In addition to the tension and temperature features, the Athena™ allows pre-register and register opportunities, which can be very useful in “standardized” working environments, where consistent repeatability independent from operators is needed. The totally servo-driven tension control, plus the 3 independent servo-drives on all print stations, one on the print cylinder, one on the impression roller, and one on the anilox roller, make the configuration of the press always “open” to any printable substrate.

The Athena™ is a fully gearless press. This allows no limitation in the calliper of the substrates, 10 microns PET and carton up to 600 gsm are used successfully, with fully servo assisted operations on the press. Additionally Athena™ accommodates printing sleeves: light weight, endless print repeat if needed. And as an option anilox sleeves and enclosed doctor blades are available. The high production speed (270 m/min – 900 ft/min) can be used in the label field only in case of specific die-cutting shapes, optimized for high speed waste removal.

On the Athena™ print pressure adjustments, tension control, and all press operations are digitally operated via servo-motors or servo commands. Multinational companies which need “digital” productivity and standardized results in different production sites can take advantage of the total control on the Athena™ operations. Also customers who aim at a quick expansion, and multiple press purchase, are able to use the opportunities of a press fully linked to the company Management Information System. Intelligent Combat™ gives the printing company total control of the press, in the company environment.

The Nemo™ Press Navigator allows total visibility of the press in the working environment; it enhances at the same time the press – operator interface, and the operator-company interface, creating an active-passive interaction between the operator, the press and the company.

For the production of film, the Athena™ takes full advantage of its stability and print quality at high speeds (270 m/min – 900 ft/min), both for UV curable or water based inks.

In case of carton manufacturing, the Athena™ takes full advantage of its stability and print quality at high speeds (270 m/min – 900 ft/min) . Also on the Athena™, the sturdy MF Cassette which can be easily removed for quick job interchangeability. The Carton Convert series of accessories can be also used for high speed carton converting.

For the production of selfadhesive labels, Athena™ is offered at the press width of 430 mm., which can fully integrate the traditional label converting section of the Combat™. The high production speed (270 m/min – 900 ft/min) can be used in case of specific die-cutting shapes, optimized for high speed waste removal.
